Ein italienischer Opern-Bariton, der Sinatra singt? Schon bei seinem Vorsingen am Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi bewarb sich der in Taranto geborene Sänger Lucio Gallo mit dem Frank Sinatra-Klassiker „New York, New York“ und zog damit die Aufmerksamkeit von Elio Battaglia auf sich, der daraufhin dort sein Lehrer wurde. Frank Sinatra, dem Meister der amerikanischen Musik, ist Lucio Gallo stets treu geblieben. So zollt er neben seinen Paraderollen u. a. als Graf und Figaro in Mozarts „Die Hochzeit des Figaro“, Scarpia in Puccinis „Tosca“ sowie in den Titelpartien in Mozarts „Don Giovanni“, Verdis „Falstaff“ und „Macbeth“ auch immer gern seinen Tribut an Sinatra. In seinem Programm trifft er Fremde in der Nacht, fliegt zum Mond, besingt den Moon River … und das alles natürlich auf seine Art. Begleitet wird er dabei vom Claudio Chiara Jazz Quintett, die als Protagonist*innen der italienischen Jazzszene gefeiert werden.

Am 17 05 um 17.30 Uhr zeigt die Caligari FilmBühne den Film „Take me out to the ball game” mit Frank Sinatra in der Hauptrolle, im Anschluss findet ein Publikumsgespräch statt.

It may seem unusual, but during his audition at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi, Taranto-born singer Lucio Gallo sang the Sinatra classic “New York, New York”, catching the attention of Elio Battaglia, who would later become his teacher. Although best known for his commanding operatic performances – whether as Count or Figaro in Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro”, Scarpia in Puccini’s “Tosca”, or the title roles in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni”, Verdi’s “Falstaff”, or “Macbeth” – Lucio Gallo has always remained devoted to the master of American music. In his Sinatra tribute evening, he takes us on a journey where we meet strangers in the night, fly to the moon, and follow the moon river, all in unmistakable Lucio Gallo style. He is accompanied by the Claudio Chiara Jazz Quintet, celebrated figures of the Italian jazz scene.
